Freddie Mercury

Freddie Mercury was born in 1949, in the British colony of Tanzania, on the African west coast.

When he was only fifteen years old, he already had a great and unique voice, so his mother sent him to a singing school in India, where he found amazing kinds of music.

When Tanzania became independent, his family flew to Britain, where Freddie continued his studies.

Later, in the mid 60s he founded Smile, a band that would later become Queen, with Brian May, the guitarist of Queen, and Roger Taylor, the drummer of Queen. Queen is composed of John Deacon, Roger Taylor, Brian May and Freddie Mercury.

Besides Queen, who he created several world-famous songs with, such as Bohemian rhapsody, Somebody to Love, Under Pressure, he also had a solo career. He performed with Montserrat Caballé, an opera singer, composing Barcelona¸ which was going to be played at the ‘92 Barcelona Olympic Games.

Freddie Mercury is also known for being one of the first to admit he had HIV and to reveal his bisexuality.

In the end, we can claim that Freddie Mercury is a one-of-a-kind artist, becoming one of the most famous and most influential artists in the world, influencing artists like, Axl Rose, from Guns ’n’ Roses, Lady Gaga, and, of course, me.

Eminem

This modern-day artist had many problems throughout his life and music career, and one of them was his skin color. Progression in his career was tough simply because of that. Being white on the hip-hop and rap scene isn’t an easy thing.

He makes elevating, inspiring and motivating music. He says whatever is on his mind, sometimes not being politically correct but being himself. He plays different characters, one of them being Slim Shady.

I chose Eminem because he is the perfect example of hard work and dedication, going against everything and everyone, achieving success pretty much alone.

Angus Young

Angus McKinnon Young was born on 31st of March 1950, in Scotland. Although he is Scottish, he lives in Australia because he has always loved this country.

He got famous for playing in a band which he founded with his brother Malcom, AC/DC. The band’s name is from a sticker that they found behind their sister’s sewing machine when they were only 9 and 14 years old! Now, AC/DC is separated due to illness of one of the members and Angus is playing with other iconic bands like, for example, Guns N’ Roses.

He always plays with a school uniform because when the band started he didn’t have time to change clothes for the concerts, which were usually after classes. So, his sister suggested that it should be his symbol in every concert, even after he finished school. He is also known for his own guitar model, Gibson SG which he uses in every concert.

Although he is 61 years old, he is very energetic on stage and he says that, when he climbs up and sees all the audience, it is like he is 16 years old again. Surprisingly, he is only 1,57 meters high and is one of the best guitarists ever.
